As a musician David Boykin has led bands of various sizes performing in venues of all sizes from night clubs to concert halls to festivals across the United States and Europe but has always felt a call to be of service to his community. Thus, he has always worked in the community as an educator and counselor. David Boykin has worked extensively with the most at risk demographic to be subject to interaction with the police and the carceral state, as a counselor of high school black boys. These experiences have given him an understanding of the need for alternative policing strategies.
